When AC fails in Chicago, every minute matters
A broken AC in a Chicago summer isn't an inconvenience — it's a safety issue. Indoor temperatures climb fast in our humid Midwest summers, especially in older brick homes and top-floor condos. Heat is dangerous for kids, seniors, pets, and anyone with health conditions.
SAVA HVAC answers emergency AC calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — including nights, weekends, and holidays. When you call, we check the schedule and give you an honest arrival window based on what's actually available.

Check these 4 things before you call
Most "AC won't start" calls are solved by one of these quick checks. Try them first — it might save you a service visit.
- Thermostat — is the screen blank? Replace the batteries. Set mode to "Cool" and temp 5° below room temp.
- Breaker — check your electrical panel. The AC breaker (often labeled "A/C" or "Condenser") may have tripped. Flip it fully OFF, then back ON.
- Air filter — if it's gray, clogged, or hasn't been changed in 3+ months, replace it. A blocked filter can freeze the coil and shut the system down.
- Outdoor unit — look for anything blocking it (leaves, grass clippings, plastic bags). Clear it.
Don't keep cycling the system on and off — that can damage the compressor. If the quick checks don't bring it back, leave it OFF and call us.
🚨 Call us immediately if you have:
- Burning electrical smell from the indoor or outdoor unit
- Water leaking near the indoor air handler or onto the ceiling below it
- AC completely off during a heat advisory (especially with kids, seniors, or pets at home)
- Loud grinding, banging, or screeching from the outdoor unit
- Ice or frost on the refrigerant lines or indoor coil
- Smoke from any part of the system — shut off the breaker and call us

What we DON'T service
To set honest expectations: SAVA HVAC does not service window air conditioners or portable AC units. We focus on central AC, mini-split systems, and whole-house cooling — that's where our certifications and parts inventory live.
What happens when you call
- You call — describe what's happening with the AC (or just say "AC is out")
