Local Homes
Avondale is a neighborhood of small apartment buildings. Of its roughly 16,100 homes, 58% are in two-, three- and four-unit buildings and 18% are single-family houses, and more than half were built before 1940 (Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, Community Data Snapshots 2026).
In a two-flat or three-flat, each apartment often has its own furnace, its own air conditioner and its own kitchen. When you call or book, tell us which unit the equipment serves and whether you are the owner or the tenant, so the visit is set up with the right person. In buildings this old the heating and cooling equipment has usually been replaced more than once, so we see a mix of ages and makes — Carrier, Lennox, Trane, Rheem, Goodman and others.
