Homes in Mount Prospect: Houses and Condo Complexes
Mount Prospect has about 22,500 homes. 57% are detached houses, about a third are in apartment and condo buildings, and 69% are owner-occupied; the typical home was built around 1969 (Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, Community Data Snapshots 2026).
The village's post-war houses and its 1960s and 1970s condo complexes have very different setups: a basement furnace with central air in a house, and in some condo units a furnace or air handler in a closet with a condenser outside or on the roof.
